Vol. 1 No. 1 (2025): Issue 1

ASIDE Gastroenterology Vol. 1, No. 1 (2025), published on 1 May 2025, is the inaugural issue of the journal and brings together practice-focused scholarship across therapeutic endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, upper gastrointestinal epidemiology, and pancreatology. The issue opens with a Letter to the Editor on the potential use of icosapent ethyl in the management of acute pancreatitis. Three original investigations follow: a systematic review and meta-analysis of dexmedetomidine as an adjunctive sedative in patients undergoing endoscopic submucosal dissection, a systematic review and meta-analysis of mycophenolate mofetil for the treatment of resistant inflammatory bowel disease, and a retrospective study of the epidemiology and determinants of Helicobacter pylori–negative gastritis. Completing the issue is a case report describing use of a Trapezoid RX wire-guided retrieval basket with the Alliance™ II inflation handle in the treatment of Bouveret syndrome, a rare clinical entity. Collectively, these articles reflect ASIDE’s commitment to rigorous, practice-focused research that informs day-to-day clinical decision-making and advances the field of gastroenterology.
